Woman claims injury in fall at Best Western

GRETNA – A Florida woman is suing Best Western and a construction company over injuries she sustained when she slipped and fell near the hotel's entrance.

Cher Desi filed a suit March 14 against Thomas Jefferson Construction Corp., Best Western International Inc. and Stephanie B. Self in the 24th Judicial District Court, alleging negligence.

According to the claim, the plaintiff, who is a resident of Orange County, Fla., was at the Best Western Plus Westbank, 1700 Lapalco Blvd., in Harvey, March 18, 2016, when the incident occurred. The suit states that the plaintiff slipped and fell on a tile that had been left slick and off center. The plaintiff was injured as a result of the fall, the complaint said. 

The defendant is accused of negligence through failing to properly clean the floors to ensure that they were safe for guests, failing to provide proper warning and overall negligence of management.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by R. Brent Cueria and George Byrne Jr.,of Cueria Law Firm LLC in New Orleans and attorney Allison Scully.

The case has been assigned to Division P Judge Lee Faulkner Jr.
