University goes after unpaid debt

GRETNA – The University of Louisiana is seeking payment of an unpaid balance.

The university system's board of supervisors, through Southeastern Louisiana University, filed a lawsuit March 15 against Christine Fitzpatrick and Treasure Chest Casino LLC as garnishee in the 24th Judicial District Court, alleging sums due.

According to the claim, the defendant became indebted to the university system for the balance of $932.20; The plaintiff, however, has reason to believe that the defendant is owed funds by the garnishee, the complaint said. The plaintiff is seeking collection of the sums due by the garnishee. With interest, court fees and other charges, the balance owed to the plaintiff is $2,533.60.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by Rokeya J. Morris of the Louisiana Department of Justice in Baton Rouge.

The case has been assigned to Division N Judge Stephen Enright Jr.
