Caytrans BBC claims Sea Central Shipping Corp. owes more than $47,000

Late 04

NEW ORLEANS – A Metairie vessel operator alleges a Florida business has failed to pay it for services it provided.

Caytrans BBC LLC filed a complaint on March 20 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Sea Central Shipping Corp. alleging breach of contract.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on March 3, 2015, defendant entered into a booking for the cargo on plaintiff's M/V BBC Sweden for $7,500 per day pro rata. Due to port congestion, the vessel was unable to discharge and was delayed for a total of 6.316 days, the suit states. To date, the detention balance of $47,370 allegedly remains outstanding. The plaintiff holds Sea Central Shipping Corp. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to satisfy its contractual obligations for detention.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks payment for detention obligation, attorneys’ fees, interest, court costs, and all other relief to which it may show itself justly entitled. It is represented by Jason P. Waguespack, Frederick W. Swaim III and Alexander L. Williams of Galloway, Johnson, Tompkins, Burr & Smith in New Orleans.
