Community college student's unpaid account prompts lawsuit

NEW ORLEANS – A community college is seeking damages for an open account stemming from unpaid coursework.

Louisiana Community and Technical College System, through Delgado Community College, filed a lawsuit March 13 against Johnathan Albter Mitchell in Orleans Parish Civil District Court, alleging an open account.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff issued goods and/or services to the defendant who failed to pay for them. The defendant owes a balance of $1,139, the complaint said.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. The plaintiff is represented by attorney Meghan Beal of the Louisiana Department of Justice in Baton Rouge.

The case has been assigned to Division F Judge Christopher Bruno.
