Woman alleges The Gates of Oakwood failed to fix leak in apartment, resulting in fall

GRETNA – A woman claims that she was caused to slip and fall when a leak in her apartment was not fixed.

Kim Young filed a suit April 3 against KFK Oakwood LLC, doing business as The Gates of Oakwood Apts., Western Heritage Insurance Co., ABC Employee and DEF Insurance Co. in the 24th Judicial District Court alleging negligence.

According to the claim, the plaintiff is a resident of Jefferson Parish. The suit states that the plaintiff was a tenant of the apartment at The Gates of Oakwood on April 4, 2016. The plaintiff slipped and fell because there was water leaking on her floor and it had not been properly repaired, the claim states.

The defendant is accused of negligence through failing to fully fix the leak, failing to warn of the danger and overall negligence of management.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by James E. Shields Sr. of Shields & Shields APLC in Gretna.

The case has been assigned to Division A Judge Raymond S. Steib Jr.

The 24th Judicial District Court Case number 770650.
