Orleans Parish woman seeking damages for fall at Metairie Popeyes

GRETNA – A woman claims that a rug in a restaurant caused her to fall.

Jo Ann Robinson filed a suit April 11 against Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen and Liberty Mutual Insurance Co. in the 24th Judicial District Court alleging negligence.

According to the claim, the plaintiff, who is a resident of Orleans Parish, visited a Popeyes location in Metairie. The suit states that on April 14, 2016, the plaintiff was caused to trip and fall on a rug that had been left in a dangerous position. The fall resulted in the dislocation of her shoulder, as well as injuries to her right hand and knee.

The defendant is accused of negligence through failing to ensure that the restaurant was in an ideal state for customers, failing to avoid dangerous situations and overall negligence of management.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. She is represented by Bobbie C. Smith of Bobbie C. Smith LLC in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division G Judge E. Adrian Adams.
