NEW ORLEANS – A man is seeking more than $3 million over allegations he was injured because of an unsafe work environment.

Ronald Verret Jr. filed a complaint on April 5 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against PTL LLC alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Jan. 21, 2017, he was working aboard defendant's vessel F/V Angel Annie when he was struck on the back of the neck by a rope on the vessel that broke, which caused him to fall to the deck and suffer disabling injuries to his neck and head. He alleges he has suffered physical and mental pain and anguish, loss of bodily function and embarrassment. The plaintiff holds PTL LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly negligently allowed a dangerous condition to exist on the vessel and failed to warn plaintiff of the dangerous condition.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages in the sum of $3 million, plus interest, all costs and disbursements of this action and for all appropriate and general relief. He is represented by C. Arlen Braud, Michelle O. Gallagher and Steven D. Jackson of Braud & Gallagher LLC in Mandeville.
