Orleans Parish woman claims she fell due to uneven ground at Southern University construction area

NEW ORLEANS – An Orleans Parish woman is seeking damages after she was caused to fall on a college campus.

Pamela Carrie filed a lawsuit April 12 against Southern University at New Orleans, The Board of Southern University Agriculture and Mechanical College, on behalf of Southern University at New Orleans, The Southern University System and Southern University Agricultural and Mechanical College in Orleans Parish Civil District Court alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff was exiting one of the buildings at the Southern University at New Orleans's property at 6801 Press Drive, New Orleans on Oct. 31, 2016, when the incident occurred. The suit states that the plaintiff fell on uneven ground after being blocked from the paved walkway due to construction.

The defendant is accused of negligence through failing to maintain the property, failing to warn of the danger and overall negligence in response to the situation.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. The plaintiff is represented by attorney Matthew A Sherman, Adam M. Stumpf and Patrick R. Follette of Chehardy, Sherman, Williams in Metairie.

The case has been assigned to Division I Judge Piper D. Griffin.
