Jefferson Parish woman accused of not showing funds were used for elevation project

GRETNA – A woman is being sued for misallocation of $30,000.

The State of Louisiana, Division of Administration, Office of Community Development-Disaster Recovery Unit filed a suit April 24 against Sheila Marts of Jefferson Parish in the 24th Judicial District Court alleging sums due.

According to the claim, the defendant was given the sum of $30,000 to use for the elevation of her home following Hurricane Katrina. The suit states that the defendant failed to show that she used the funds as stated, and the plaintiff is seeking repayment of the funds.

The defendant is accused of sums due.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by John C. Walsh of Shows, Cali & Walsh LLP in Baton Rouge.

The case has been assigned to Division O Judge Danyelle M. Taylor.
