Jefferson Parish woman allegedly failed to use $30,000 for home elevation project

GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish woman is being sued for $30,000 that she allegedly misallocated.

State of Louisiana, Division of Administration, Office of Community Development- Disaster Recovery Unit filed a suit April 24 against Wendy Guarino in the 24th Judicial District Court alleging sums due.

According to the claim, the plaintiff gave the defendant $30,000 to put toward the elevation of her home following Hurricane Katrina. The suit states that the woman failed to use the funds as stated and is required to pay the funds back to the plaintiff.

The defendant is accused of sums due.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by Mary Catherine Cali of Shows, Cali & Walsh LLP in Baton Rouge.

The case has been assigned to Division P Judge Lee V. Faulkner Jr.

The 24th Judicial District Court Case number 771306.
