Nicholls State claims Orleans Parish resident failed to pay for fall 2010 semester

NEW ORLEANS – A university is seeking damages for sums due on an Orleans Parish resident's open account.

University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors through Nicholls State University filed a lawsuit April 24 against Mary F. Craig in Orleans Parish Civil District Court alleging open account.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff is seeking payment on an open account maintained by the defendant for a balance of $1,033.75 plus interest. The defendant has failed to pay the balance for the fall 2010 semester.

The defendant is accused of having an open account.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. The plaintiff is represented by attorney Scott L. Smith Jr. of the Louisiana Department of Justice in Baton Rouge.

The case has been assigned to Division G Judge Robin M. Giarrusso.
