Orleans Parish man claims equipment fell on hand while working, cutting off tip of finger

NEW ORLEANS – An Orleans Parish man is seeking damages after his little finger was cut off at work.

Gregory Brown filed a lawsuit April 28 against Nola Event Labor Support LLC and Churchill Downs Louisiana Horseracing Co. LLC in Orleans Parish Civil District Court alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff was working for Nola as a sound crew worker on April 29, 2016, when the incident occurred. The suit states that the plaintiff was working on moving equipment when a pile of equipment tilted and fell over on him, crushing his right hand a cutting off the tip of his finger. The plaintiff had to be taken to the hospital by ambulance.

The defendant is accused of negligence for failing to provide a safe work environment, failing to warn of the danger and overall negligence in the details of this case.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. The plaintiff is represented by attorney Michael C. Darnell and Edin R. Murray of Murray, Darnell & Associates LLC in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division F Judge Christopher J. Bruno.
