St. Tammany Parish alleges Louisiana Housing failed to repair stairs

NEW ORLEANS – A St. Tammany Parish woman claims that she was caused to fall down a flight of stairs at her apartment complex.

Terri Stewart filed a lawsuit May 12 against Louisiana Housing Corp. in Orleans Parish Civil District Court alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff was a resident of the defendant's property on Jan. 11 when the incident occurred. The suit states that the plaintiff tripped and fell on metal that was sticking out of from the stairs. The plaintiff then fell down the rest of the steps.

The defendant is accused of negligence by failing to ensure that the premises were safe, failing to repair the condition and overall negligence of management.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. The plaintiff is represented by attorney Brian King, Jason F. Giles and Anthony J. Milazzo III of The King Law Firm LLC in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division B Judge Rachael Johnson.
