Jefferson Parish woman alleges wires left in walkway caused her to trip, fall

NEW ORLEANS – A Jefferson Parish woman claims that she fell at a convention center.

Maria M. Ranzino and Anthony C. Ranzino filed a lawsuit May 5 against Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, St. Paul Fire & Marine Insurance Co., Helen Brett Enterprises Inc., Freeman Expositions Inc. and Ronnie Chhabra, doing business as LaChic Designs LLC. in Orleans Parish Civil District Court alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff is seeking damages for an incident that took place May 13, 2016, at while she was at a jewelry show at 900 Convention Center Blvd., Orleans Parish. The suit states that the plaintiff was a guest at the defendant's property when she tripped and fell over a bundle of wires that had been left in the walkway. The plaintiff was allegedly injured due to the fall.

The defendant is accused of negligence by failing to place the wires in a place that would not cause danger to others, failing to warn of said danger and overall negligence of management.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. She is represented by attorney James B. Guest in Kenner.

The case has been assigned to Division L Judge Kern A. Reese.
