NEW ORLEANS – A Lafourche Parish man claims that he was injured in a boating incident caused by an incompetent captain.

Terrance Arceneaux filed a complaint on May 23 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Shoreline Southeast LLC, ABC insurance company and Marquis Resources LLC

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in May 27, 2014, he was aboard a vessel under the control of the defendant's Shoreline when the vessel allided with an oil well structure. As a result of the impact, the suit states the plaintiff sustained injuries that required surgery. The plaintiff alleges he suffered loss of wages and benefits, physical and mental pain and medical expenses.

The plaintiff holds Shoreline Southeast LLC, ABC insurance company and Marquis Resources LLC responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to provide competent boat operator and failed to have proper navigational equipment on board the vessel.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendants in the total sum of $350,000, plus interest, costs of these proceedings and all other general and equitable maritime relief. He is represented by Berney L. Strauss, Rhett E. King, Clinton G. Mead and Christopher D. Matchett of Strauss & King APLC in New Orleans.
