NEW ORLEANS – A Jefferson Parish woman claims that she was injured when a piece of machinery was being used near her.

Carla Echeverry filed a lawsuit May 24 against Phillip Padgett, Richard Tyler, Alabama Wildlife and Jazz Casino Co. LLC, doing business as Harrah's New Orleans Casino, in Orleans Parish Civil District Court alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff is seeking damages for an incident that took place on Feb. 16. The suit states that the plaintiff was standing at the corner of Poydras Street and South Peters Street when the defendant, who was operating machinery nearby, caused the plaintiff to be injured.

The defendant is accused of negligence by failing to properly train the employees, use the machinery properly, and failing to warn the plaintiff of the danger potential.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. The plaintiff is represented by attorney David H. Hanchey of Dudley Debosier PLC in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division J Judge Cherrell S. Taplin.
