Orleans Parish man claims security guards at Republic beat him

NEW ORLEANS – An Orleans Parish man claims that he was beaten by security guards.

Henry MacDonald filed a lawsuit June 7 against Republic New Orleans LLC, doing business as Republic, in Orleans Parish Civil District Court alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff was a guest at the defendant's property Nov. 6. The suit states that security guards working for the defendants forcibly removed the plaintiff from the building and beat him, injuring his head. The plaintiff was treated at an emergency room for the injuries, the suit says.

The defendant is accused of failing to protect the plaintiff, failing to properly train employees, failing to supervise employees and overall negligence.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. The plaintiff is represented by attorney Preston Hayes of Chehardy, Sherman, Williams, Murray, Recile, Stakelum & Hayes LLP in Metairie.

The case has been assigned to Division G Judge Robin M. Giarrusso.
