Oilrig 07

LAFAYETTE – A Jefferson Parish man alleges he was injured during the transfer from a platform to a vessel.

Chad P. Billiot filed a complaint on May 31 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana, Lafayette-Opelousas Division against Gulf Crane Services Inc., Freeport McMoran Inc., Freeport McMoran Oil & Gas LLC and C&D Production Specialist Co. Inc. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in June 12, 2015, he was working in the course and scope of his employment for Superior Energy Services aboard defendants' High Island 537 platform in the Gulf of Mexico. The suit states that while the plaintiff was being transported from the platform to a vessel, the crane swung the personnel basket and crashed it into the crane boom rest and the plaintiff was injured.

The plaintiff alleges he sustained injuries and damages resulting in pain, suffering, disability, mental anguish and loss of enjoyment of life, medical expenses and lost wages.

The plaintiff holds Gulf Crane Services Inc., Freeport McMoran Inc., Freeport McMoran Oil & Gas LLC and C&D Production Specialist Co. Inc. responsible because the crane operator was improperly trained or was inattentive.

The plaintiff seeks damages in an amount reasonable in the premises, with legal interest, costs of these proceedings and all other relief as the court may deem proper. He is represented by Nicholas A. Blanda of Anderson Dozier Blanda & Saltzman in Lafayette and Adam S. Lambert of Law Office of Adam S. Lambert in New Orleans.
