American Express claims Orleans Parish man owes over $162,000

NEW ORLEANS – American Express is seeking damages for an open account.

American Express Bank FSB filed a lawsuit June 14 against James Hyland of Orleans Parish and Catholic Journeys in Orleans Parish Civil District Court alleging open account.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff issued an American Express card to the defendant. The suit states that the defendant has failed to pay off the balance of the credit card which is now totaled to be $162,268.66.

The defendant is accused of having an open account.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. The plaintiff is represented by attorney Jason Olivier of The DeGrasse Law Firm in Mandeville. 

The case has been assigned to Division E Judge Clare Jupiter.
