NEW ORLEANS – A painter/service hand working on an Anadarko platform in the Gulf of Mexico alleges that he was injured because of a defective ladder.

Johann Cardenas filed a complaint on June 20 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Anadarko Petroleum Corp. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on March 17, 2015, he was severely injured while in the course and scope of his employment for Omni Energy Services working on the Anadarko Marco Polo. He alleges he injured his knee because of a defective ladder that did not have evenly spaced rungs.

The plaintiff holds Anadarko Petroleum Corp. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to repair the rungs on the ladder and to warn plaintiff and his employer that the ladder was defective and dangerous.

The plaintiff seeks damages as are reasonable in the premises, plus legal interest, costs of these proceedings and all further relief as the court may determine proper. He is represented by Aub A. Ward of Naquin & Ward in Baton Rouge and Patrick H. Hufft of Patrick H. Hufft Attorney at Law in New Orleans.
