NEW ORLEANS – A St. Tammany Parish man claims that he was injured when a tractor-trailer improperly changed lances and struck his vehicle.
Leonard J. Fournette filed a complaint on June 22 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Thomas Scriven, T M Shipping Inc., Ryder Truck Rental Inc. and the XYZ insurance company alleging negligence.
According to the complaint, on June 30, 2016, the plaintiff was driving eastbound on Interstate 12 in Tangipahoa Parish when Scriven, operating a tractor-trailer owned by Ryder, collided with the plaintiff. The suit states the collision forced the plaintiff off the road and caused him to sustain severe and painful injuries. The plaintiff holds Scriven, T M Shipping Inc., Ryder Truck Rental Inc. and the XYZ insurance company responsible because defendant Scriven allegedly was traveling at an excessive rate of speed, improperly changed lanes and failed to keep a careful lookout.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendants, jointly, severally and in solido, with legal interest, costs of these proceedings and all other equitable relief as the court deems appropriate. He is represented by Michael L. Mullin of Law Offices of Michael L. Mullin in New Orleans.
