Avis claims renter crashed into other vehicles, failed to pay for damages

NEW ORLEANS – A rental company is seeking damages for a car accident and subsequent breach of contract.

Avis Rent A Car System Inc. filed a lawsuit July 5 against Tammy L. Ivory and Julius R. Ivory in Orleans Parish Civil District Court alleging breach of contract.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff issued the defendants a rental agreement and that on June 10, 2007, Tammy Ivory backed into three vehicles. The suit states the defendant was required to pay for the damages per the agreement, but the defendant has failed to pay for the damages. The plaintiff is seeking payment of $11,097.23.

The defendant is accused of negligence and breach of contract.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. The plaintiff is represented by attorney Thomas G. Zentner of Nelson, Zentner, Sartor & Snellings in Monroe.

The case has been assigned to Division D Judge Scott U. Schlegel.
