NEW ORLEANS – A Jefferson Parish man alleges excessive force was used during his arrest.
Jerman Neveaux filed a complaint on June 22 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Jefferson Parish Sheriff Officers Christy Clement, Julio Avarado, George Kister, Joseph Ragas, et al. alleging that they violated the Fourth and 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff was arrested as a suspect for the murder of JPSO Deputy Michael David on June 22, 2016. He alleges that during the arrest, he was forced to the ground and beaten and kicked by several officers. He alleges that he sustained nerve damage, mental anguish, disfigurement and partial blindness in his right eye.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks actual, compensatory and punitive damages, plus interest, costs and attorneys' fees and all further relief as may be proper. He is represented by Willard J. Brown Sr. of Law Office of Willard J. Brown Sr. in New Orleans.
