NEW ORLEANS – A Jones Act seaman alleges he contracted a bacterial infection while working aboard a vessel.

Jonas Molloy filed a complaint on June 27 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Galliano Marine Service LLC alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Sept. 15, 2015, he was employed by defendant aboard the M/V Fast Titan when he contracted Whitmore's disease. He alleges he has suffered physical, mental and emotional pain, lost wages and fringe benefits and medical expenses and is presently unfit and incapable of returning to duty as a seaman.

The plaintiff holds Galliano Marine Service LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to provide proper and safe drinking and bathing water and failed to implement safe policies for the protection of the crew.

The plaintiff seeks to recover all damages to which he is entitled, adequate maintenance and cure benefits, plus interest, costs, expert fees and all other general and equitable relief. He is represented by Timothy J. Young, Tammy D. Harris and Megan C. Misko of The Young Firm in New Orleans.
