NEW ORLEANS – A Jefferson Parish man alleges he was subjected to discriminatory treatment by his former employer and is seeking reinstatement after his termination.
Roberto Gonzalez filed a complaint on June 30 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Premier Quality Imports LLC, doing business as Premier Honda, alleging violation of the Louisiana Whistleblower Protection Law.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff began his employment with the defendant in November 2014 as a parts manager. He alleges he was subjected to discriminatory comments relating to his Hispanic ethnic origin. The suit states he was terminated on June 30, 2016, after an argument with a white co-worker but that co-worker was never disciplined for the incident.
The plaintiff holds Premier Quality Imports LLC responsible because the defendant's termination of him was allegedly discriminatory. He also alleges he was terminated because he objected and/or refused to participate in violations of the law.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory and punitive damages, reinstatement, attorneys’ fees and costs and such other relief to which he is entitled. He is represented by Christa Hayes Forrester of Paragine Law Firm LLC in Covington.
