Tenant alleges uneven deck at New Orleans property caused fall, injuries

NEW ORLEANS – A tenant of a New Orleans property alleges she was injured because a deck was not kept in a safe condition.

Adriana Morales filed a lawsuit July 17 against Certain Interested Underwriters at Lloyd's London Subscribing to Policy Number AS02515TXPK00020, Joseph Miller III, Theresa Miller and Jason Harmon in Orleans Parish Civil District Court alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff was a tenant at the Millers' property at 839 St. Peters St., New Orleans, when the incident occurred on July 18. The suit states that while the plaintiff was walking on the balcony of the second floor, she was caused to trip on a raised portion of the deck.

The defendants are accused of negligence through failing to properly repair the balcony so that it was safe to walk on.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by attorney Samuel L. Fuller, John J. Finckbeiner and Natalie A. Williams in Chalmette.

The case has been assigned to Division N Judge Ethel S. Julien.
