Orleans Parish woman claims she was burned by hot coffee in a Waffle House

NEW ORLEANS – An Orleans Parish woman is seeking damages, claiming hot coffee was spilled on her.

Sharon Cooper filed a lawsuit against Waffle House Inc., Jane Doe and ABC Insurance Co. in Orleans Parish Civil District Court, alleging negligence

According to the complaint, the plaintiff is seeking damages for an incident that took place on July 24, 2016, at the Waffle House at 2500 Canal St. in New Orleans. The suit states the plaintiff was injured when an employee spilled scalding coffee on the plaintiff, resulting in burns to her leg.

The defendant is accused of negligence, carelessness and overall negligence on behalf of the management.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. The plaintiff is represented by attorney Michael C. Darnell and Edwin R. Murray of Murray, Carnell & Associates LLC in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division E Judge Clare Jupiter.
