Woman claims she slipped on a rug at Dollar General

NEW ORLEANS – A woman claims that she was caused to slip and fall on a rug in a Dollar General.

Carolyn Smith filed a lawsuit against DolgenCorp LLC, doing business as Dollar General Corp., ABC Corp. and XYZ Insurance Co. in Orleans Parish Civil District Court, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff is seeking damages for an incident that took place at the store at 2001 St. Bernard Ave. in New Orleans on Aug. 18, 2016. The plaintiff claims she slipped and fell on a rug that was placed near the door and created a hazard.

The defendant is accused of negligence in the situation and failing to warn of or prevent the incident.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. The plaintiff is represented by attorneys Allan Berger and Andrew Geiger of Allan, Berger & Associates PLC in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division J Judge Cherrell S. Taplin.
