Woman claims maintenance worker for BFNO Properties set off roach bomb while she was sleeping

NEW ORLEANS – A woman claims that roach bombs were set off while she was sleeping.

Shannon White filed a lawsuit against BFNO Properties LLC, also known as Jackson's Landing North and XYZ Insurance Co. in Orleans Parish Civil District Court, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff was a resident of BFNO Properties and altered the company of a roach problem on Sept. 23, 2016. The suit states that the plaintiff was sleeping when she was disturbed by a maintenance worker who brought roach bombs to treat the infestation. The plaintiff let her in, and while she was using the bathroom thought the maintenance worker had left. The plaintiff claims awoke to a smoke- and chemical-filled room and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

The defendant is accused of negligence by failing to warn the plaintiff of the danger of the roach bombs, failing to give the plaintiff time to vacate the building and overall negligence by failing to protect the tenants of the property.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. The plaintiff is represented by Marc L. Frischhertz of Frischhertz, Poulliard, Frischhertz & Impastato LLC in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division J Judge Cherrell S. Taplin.
