Woman claims she was injured in fall at Zuppardo's Economical Supermarkets

GRETNA – A woman claims she was injured when she slipped on a wet surface at a supermarket.

Debra Bartholomew filed a suit against Economical Supermarket Inc., doing business as Zuppardo's Economical Supermarkets, and Amtrust North America Insurance Co. in the 24th Judicial District Court, alleging negligence.

According to the claim, on Aug. 28, 2016, the plaintiff slipped and fell on a wet floor, and a wine bottle she was holding broke and cut her hand. Additionally, the plaintiff claims her back was injured in the fall.

The defendant is accused of negligence by failing to foresee the danger and prevent it from causing injury.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by Richard H. Barker IV of Richard Hobbs Barker IV APLC in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division H Judge Glenn B. Ansardi.
