University of New Orleans claims student failed to pay nearly $2,000

NEW ORLEANS – A university is seeking damages for sums due from an Orleans Parish resident.

University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors through the University of New Orleans filed a lawsuit against Ashley Marie Miester Rutland in Orleans Parish Civil District Court, alleging an open account.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff is seeking damages for sums due for the balance of $1,904.60 plus interest on a promissory note.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. The plaintiff is represented by attorney Meghan N. Beal of the Louisiana Department of Justice in Baton Rouge.

The case has been assigned to Division C Judge Sidney H. Cates IV.
