A woman claims that she tripped and fell on a ladder at Canseco's Market

NEW ORLEANS — A woman is seeking damages for an incident, claiming that she was caused to trip and fall on a ladder.

Barbara Deverney filed a lawsuit on Sept. 29 in Orleans Parish Civil District Court against Canseco's LLC d/b/a Canseco's Market, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff is seeking damages for an incident that allegedly took place on Sept. 29, 2016. The suit claims that the plaintiff was a guest at the defendant's property in Orleans Parish when she allegedly was caused to trip and fall on a ladder that had been left on the ground, which allegedly caused her to sustain injuries.

The defendant is accused of negligence for allegedly failing to warn customers of the danger and maintain its premises in a safe condition.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and appropriate relief. The plaintiff is represented by attorney Ryan J. Hughes and Robert T. Hughes in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division J Judge Cherrell S. Taplin.
