A man is being sued by State of Louisiana for more than $130,000 for an alleged open account

NEW ORLEANS — A man is being sued for allegedly failing to use government funds for their intended purpose.

The State of Louisiana Division of Administration's Office of Community Development-Disaster Recovery Unit filed a lawsuit on Sept. 28 in Orleans Parish Civil District Court against Cecil E. Bienvenu Jr., alleging an open account.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff is seeking damages for an open account. The suit states that the defendant has failed to pay off a balance of $130,310. The defendant was allegedly given funds by the State of Louisiana in order to make improvements to the defendant's property. However, the defendant allegedly has failed to use the funds for the designated purpose.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and appropriate relief. The plaintiff is represented by attorney John C. Walsh of Shows, Cali & Walsh LLP in Baton Rouge.

The case has been assigned to Division E Judge Clare Jupiter.
