University of New Orleans is seeking damages, claiming that a student failed to pay $4,000

NEW ORLEANS — A university is seeking more than $4,000 in damages.

The University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors through the University of New Orleans filed a lawsuit on Sept. 20 in Orleans Parish Civil District Court against Jada Michelle Carbo, alleging an open account.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff is seeking damages for sums due, which the defendant had allegedly accumulated while attending the institution. The defendant is allegedly indebted to the plaintiff for the balance of $4,317.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and appropriate relief. The plaintiff is represented by attorney Scott L. Smith Jr. of the Louisiana Department of Justice in Baton Rouge.

The case has been assigned to Division C Judge Sidney H. Cates IV.
