Southeastern Louisiana University sues over unpaid debt

GRETNA – Southeastern Louisiana University is seeking damages for a former student's open account.

The University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors through Southeastern Louisiana University filed a suit Oct. 9 against Joshua Joseph Pena in the 24th Judicial District Court, alleging open account.

According to the claim, the plaintiff is seeking damages for an open account, claiming that the defendant has failed to pay off the balance accumulated while attending the university. The balance due is for $2,994.02 plus interest.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by Assistant Attorney General Meghan N. Beal of the Louisiana Department of Justice in Baton Rouge.

The case has been assigned to Division F Judge Michael P. Mentz.
