Harvey man sues contractor after roof collapse

GRETNA – A Harvey man is seeking damages, claiming that a roofing company's work on his home led to the collapse of the roof, resulting in property damage and injury.

Gay Gomez and Elwood P. Gomez Jr. filed a suit Oct. 16 against Aspen Contracting Inc. in the 24th Judicial District Court, alleging negligence.

According to the claim, the plaintiff is seeking damages for an incident that took place at 4021 S. Woodbine St. in Harvey. The suit states that the plaintiff employed the defendant to complete work at the property. Later, in 2017, the roof collapsed due to faulty work by the defendant, and the plaintiff was injured and his property damaged as a result, the complaint says.

The defendant is accused of negligence through failing to properly repair the home.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by Daniel A. Ranson.

The case has been assigned to Division A Judge Raymond S. Steib Jr.

The 24th Judicial District Court Case number 776773.
