Parents claim their child was injured while playing a dangerous game at school

NEW ORLEANS — Two individuals claim that their child was injured while playing a dangerous game at school.

Rudolph Rayfield Jr. and Kesha Rayfield, on behalf of their minor child, Paris Rayfield, filed a lawsuit on Oct. 17 in Orleans Parish Civil District Court against Orleans Parish School Board, XYZ Insurance Company and Wayne Steward Jr., alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs are seeking damages for an incident that allegedly took place on Oct. 18, 2016. The suit states that the plaintiffs' minor child was taking part in a game at the teacher's instruction when the child allegedly had a tooth knocked out. The incident allegedly required the child to have dental surgery.

The defendants are accused of negligence for allegedly failing to ensure that the child was safe.

The plaintiffs seek all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and appropriate relief. The plaintiffs are represented by attorney Lori A. Noto Alphoso of Lori A. Noto Law Firm LLC in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division L Judge Kern A. Reese.
