Customer blames nail salon for leg amputation

NEW ORLEANS – A customer suing a nail salon, alleging she was injured and had her leg amputated due to the negligence of the defendant.

Cassandra Lewis filed a lawsuit Oct. 12 against Nail Studio Professional Nail Care and ABC Insurance Company in Orleans Parish Civil District Court, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, on on April 1, Lewis when she was at Nail Studio Professional Nail Care to have her nails clipped. The plaintiff says she is a diabetic and warned the defendant of her special health condition. 

Following the visit, the suit says, Lewis started to experience pain in her feet and went to an emergency room in New Orleans where she was informed that she had an infection and a flesh-eating bacteria.  Lewis had to have her leg amputated up to the knee and blames the defendant for the incident.

Lewis seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. She is represented by attorney J. Michael Daly Jr. of Metairie.

The case has been assigned to Division A Judge Tiffany G. Chase.
