Woman seeking damages after falling in Kmart

GRETNA — A woman claims that she was injured in the Jefferson Parish Kmart when she slipped and fell in the store.

Tammie Landry filed a suit on Nov. 7 against Kmart Corporation and its unnamed insurance company in the 24th Judicial District Court alleging negligence.

According to the claim, the plaintiff is seeking damages for an alleged incident that took place on Dec. 3, 2016 at the Kmart on Elmwood. The suit states that the plaintiff was caused to slip and fall when she encountered an oily substance on the ground near the registers. The plaintiff allegedly fell to the ground and her injuries caused her work to suffer.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by Tomy J. Acosta in LaPlace.

The case has been assigned to Division F Judge Michael P. Mentz.
