Walmart sued after woman allegedly falls on grapes

NEW ORLEANS – A woman claims that she slipped on grapes and fell at a Walmart.

Martha Doblado de Marconi filed a lawsuit on Nov. 15 against Walmart Louisiana LLC in Orleans Parish Civil District Court alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff is seeking damages for an incident that allegedly took place on Aug. 31, 2017. The suit states that the plaintiff was shopping at the Walmart at 4001 Behrman Place in New Orleans when she was caused to slip and fall on some grapes that had been left on the ground.

The defendant is accused of negligence through failing to clean up the mess, failing to warn of the danger and overall negligence of management.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. The plaintiff is represented by attorney Zachary R. Smith of Chehardy, Sherman, Williams, Murray, Recile, Stakelum & Hayes LLP in Metairie.

The case has been assigned to Division I Judge Piper D. Griffin.
