Woman alleges Jefferson Parish Sheriff officer caused accident

GRETNA — A woman is suing the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office and its employee, alleging a sheriff's vehicle caused an accident in which she was injured.

Jasmine Hixon filed a suit on Oct. 3 against Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office and Officer Christopher Thomas in the 24th Judicial District Court, alleging negligence.

According to the claim, the plaintiff is seeking damages for an incident that took place on U.S. 90 B when a sheriff's vehicle hit a car behind her and as a result the car smashed into her vehicle, which was stopped due to traffic.

The defendants are accused of negligence.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by Larry C. Pieno in Marrero.

The case has been assigned to Division N Judge Stephen D. Enright Jr.
