NEW ORLEANS – A woman is seeking damages after she fell in a stairwell in her apartment building.
Jane Walker filed a lawsuit on Nov. 13 against Maurice Rankins Sr., Maurice Rankins Project Managers Inc. and The Lynd Company in Orleans Parish Civil District Court alleging negligence.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff is seeking damages for an incident that took place on Nov. 14, 2016 when she was returning to her apartment in New Orleans and allegedly tripped and fell in a dimly lit stairwell littered with paint cans.
The defendant is accused of negligence through failing to provide a safe habitation or adequate lighting.
The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. The plaintiff is represented by attorneys Stephen F. Harris in New Orleans.
The case has been assigned to Division J Judge Cherrell S. Taplin.
