NEW ORLEANS – A woman claims that a wine bottle broke on her foot in a local Walmart store.
Melonie Matthews filed a lawsuit on Nov. 14 against Walmart Stores Inc, ABC Insurance Company, Southern Glazer's Wine & Spirits of Louisiana LLC, and/or Southern Glazer's Wind and Spirits of Louisiana II LLC, and XYZ Insurance Company in Orleans Parish Civil District Court alleging negligence.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff is seeking damages for an incident that took place on Dec. 7, 2016. The suit states that the plaintiff was injured when a wine bottle fell and broke on her foot.
The defendant is accused of negligence through failing to place the wine display in a safe location and failing to warn of danger.
The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. The plaintiff is represented by attorney Shelley Hammond Provosty of Hammond Law Firm LLC in New Orleans.
The case has been assigned to Division E Judge Clare Jupiter.
