State claims woman failed to pay back Katrina grant

NEW ORLEANS – The State of Louisiana is seeking damages against a women who allegedly failed to pay back a disaster recovery grant issued following Hurricane Katrina.

The State of Louisiana Division of Administration Office of Community Development, Disaster Recovery Unit filed a lawsuit on Nov. 2 against Danna Connerly in Orleans Parish Civil District Court alleging breach of contract.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff is seeking damages against the defendant claiming that she failed to repay a grant of $145,100. 

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. The plaintiff is represented by attorney Mary C. Walsh of Shows, Cali & Walsh LLP in Baton Rouge.

The case has been assigned to Division A Judge Tiffany G. Chase.
