Woman allegedly severely injured in Sav-a-Lot parking lot fall

NEW ORLEANS – A woman claims she was injured when she slipped and fell in oil in the parking lot of a Save-a-Lot parking lot.

Melissa Hookfin and Glen B. Hookfin Sr., individually and on behalf of the estate of his wife, Melissa Hookfin, and Rakell Hookfin filed a lawsuit on Oct. 17 against Moran Foods LLC, d/b/a Save-a-Lot Ltd; P.I. Manager; Brothers Carondelet LLC; Lake Forest Investments LLC; and ABC Insurance Company in Orleans Parish Civil District Court alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff is seeking damages for an incident that allegedly took place on Nov. 23, 2016. The suit states that Melissa Hookfin was caused to slip and fall on oil that had been left in the parking lot at a Save-a-Lot store on Lake Forest Boulevard. The plaintiff allegedly was severely injured in the fall.

The defendant is accused of negligence.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. The plaintiff is represented by attorney Robert L. Manard.

The case has been assigned to Division E Judge Clare Jupiter.
