Woman claims child injured by elevator doors at JW Marriott in New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS – A mother claims that her young child was injured by an elevator in a New Orleans hotel.

Anndaria Johnson, individually and on behalf of her minor child, filed a lawsuit on Oct. 26, against Sunstone Canal Lessee Inc., Sunstone Canal LLC and Otis Elevator Company in Orleans Parish Civil District Court alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff is seeking damages for an incident that took place on Dec. 30, 2016. The plaintiff and her child were guests at the JW Marriott in New Orleans, which is owned by Sunstone. Her child was returning to their hotel room when the elevator doors closed on her. The child was taken to New Orleans Children's Hospital for treatment.

The defendant is accused of negligence.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. The plaintiff is represented by attorney Jere Jay Bice of Veron, Bicem Palermo & Wilson LLC in Lake Charles.

The case has been assigned to Division G Judge Robin M. Giarrusso.
