Woman seeks damages after slipping in sewage

GRETNA – A woman claims that she was caused to trip and fall in raw sewage on her front walkway.

Walterine Carter filed a suit Dec. 15 against Roto-Rooter Services Co., Barrett Phillips and ABC Insurance Co. in the 24th Judicial District Court alleging negligence.

According to the claim, the plaintiff is seeking damages for an incident that took place Dec. 27, 2016. The suit states the defendant was hired by the plaintiff to remove and replace a sewer line at the plaintiff's property at 110 Adonis Way, Terrytown. The suit states the defendant's negligence resulted in raw sewage being left near the plaintiff's front door, which the plaintiff slipped and fell in, causing physical damages.

The defendant is accused of negligence.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by Kurt A. Offner of Alvendia, Kelly & Demarest in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division H Judge Glenn B. Ansardi.
