Woman claims she was injured in fall in Jefferson Parish

GRETNA – A woman claims she was injured when she stepped into a hole in the ground in Jefferson Parish.

Shirley Farria filed a suit Dec. 19 against Jefferson Parish and/or Jefferson Parish Government and Jefferson Parish Department of Streets in the 24th Judicial District Court, alleging negligence.

According to the claim, the plaintiff is seeking damages for an incident that took place on Jan. 24, 2017. The plaintiff was walking from 1401 Veterans Blvd. in Metairie to 807 Homestead when she stepped in a hole on the ground and fell. The plaintiff was injured in the fall.

The defendant is accused of negligence through failing to repair the concrete and failing to warn of the danger.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by The Birdsall Law Firm in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division J Judge Stephen Grefer.

The 24th Judicial District Court Case is No. 778819.
