GRETNA – A woman claims that a hospital technician ignored her complaints that something was wrong while she was receiving a contrast dye injection and as a result she suffered long-term nerve damage.
Toni Marshall filed a suit on Jan. 22 against Ochsner Medical Center and Foundation in the 24th Judicial District Court alleging negligence and breach in the standard of care.
According to the claim, the plaintiff is seeking damages for an incident that took place on Sept. 8, 2015. The suit states that the plaintiff was having her IV changed at Ochsner Medical Center and was given a contrast dye injection by a CT scan technician. She allegedly complained of pain, but the technician failed to heed the plaintiff's discomfort. As a result, the suit states that the plaintiff had a reaction to the injection resulting in swelling, pain, scarring and long-term nerve damage.
The defendant is accused of negligence and breach in the standard of care.
The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by J. Michael Daly Jr. in Metairie.
The case has been assigned to Division B Judge Cornelius E. Regan.
