Woman seeks damages in wake of car accident

GRETNA – A woman claims that she was struck by a driver and injured severely.

Shelly Bowers filed a suit Feb. against the City of Gretna Police Department and Ronald Plaisance in the 24th Judicial District Court alleging negligence.

According to the claim, the plaintiff is seeking damages for an incident that took place on April 27, 2017 when the plaintiff was driving her Honda CRV eastbound toward Westbank Expressway. The defendant, an on-duty City of Gretna employee, was operating his 2011 Ford Crown Victoria. The suit says he failed to be an attentive driver and struck the plaintiff's car, causing the plaintiff monetary and physical damages as well as emotional distress.

The defendant is accused of negligence.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by John B. Noble of Michael Hingle & Associates LLC in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division E Judge John Molaison Jr.

The 24th Judicial District Court Case No. is 780287.
